fuel gaugeing

Unread post by Peal »

Is it common to get a higher contents reading for a short period of time on Citroen's after refueling.
Both my Xantia's dropped < 2 needles width after 1/2 hour with the cars parked (and running)
Never noticed it on any other manufacturer, even the Peugeot 505 we had, what went in stayed, the only time this does not happen is with a full tank. Too much just to be down to temperature changes.

Any comments

Never had an accurate xantia fuel guage :)
With 5 notches not equally spaced it basically gives you 3 accurate readings:
Full
Some fuel in tank
Empty

In my experience:

Full = Full
Half = 1/3
1/4 = Will be in the red in 10 miles!

The gauge on the XM is fairly accurate - once it starts moving, it apparantly does the first 150 miles without using any fuel!
