Xantia HDi Lift Pump

Unread post by rory_perrett »

Thought the lift pump in the tank was sounding a bit noisier last night. This morning the engine turned over but (I you always seem to just know it) it wasn't going to start. Couldn't hear any noise from the back so lifted the back seat and gave the pump a thump. That was enough to get it running (sounds as rough as anything although that could be because the seat was up and the cover off).

I guess its a new lift pump. GSF list a pump and sender N18369 at £115 + VAT and N18375 Lift pump at £69.55 + VAT. Does this mean it is possible to just replace the pump rather than the whole thing? Right now £80 sounds better than £132.

I know the gauge can be replaced separately as I did that just after I bought my (now Jim's) Activa so I suppose it is possible.

Going to answer my own question here.

Got the unit out and it is very easy to dismantle to replace either the fuel pump (in my case a Bosch Unit 0580 464 982) or the fuel gauge sender.
