No go activa

Unread post by Peal »

After doing a clutch change during the week, we are having trouble running.

Started up fine after the rebuild left it for 20 minutes to resort itself out in the hydraulic department, short road test (round the block) went fine went to collect some tickets from my daughter (5 minutes away) engine started kicking and dying.
This persisted on a later trip (same distance) with full engine fade outs, firing up quickly after on the key.

Following day much the same in the morning however during the afternoon all out refusals and covered a mile journey in 5 hops and 1/2 an hour. The restarts were not good, last length went well 1/2 mile in one go lovely drive cleared some yucky fuel I thought.
Evening we got 400 yards then 200 trying to get back and it is still there! refusing to fire up and hold for more than 5 seconds.

So far checked swopped fuses but not power
checked "that" fuel double relay cleaned connections (have spare but earlier type)
Reset (not tripped) crash switch.

Any ideas please
I still need to get it home to check power though to the fuel pump or slave some power to it that should prove the relay?? maybe

Thanks in anticipation

Sounds like the battery is not charging. Next time it starts up, check you're getting the best part of 14V across the terminals.

I have doubts re the battery/charging as the starter is turning the engine over at normal speed however after 30-40 minutes of attempted starts and only getting 200 yards it is slowing down now as can be expected, I don't believe this is the problem.

Thanks all the same, I think it is fuel pump/relay orientated either loss of volts there or ultimately a dead pump unit. It feels like it's trying to vacuum the fuel through not being pumped.

Oh fuel - 25+ litres in the tank

Edit added I will also get and change the fuel filter today, It may be that simple

Cheers
