Stuck cigarette lighter Xantia 96
Has anyone experienced a stuck or seized in cigarette lighter on a MK1 Xantia and if so how did you free it ?

Check the fuse is OK for the lighter, failing that you can remove the mounting part of the ashtray to look at it on the bench, remove the Torx 20 screws retaining it, IIRC two at the top and two at the bottom.

Don't you just need to supply 12V and out it pops after a few seconds?vince wrote:Has anyone experienced a stuck or seized in cigarette lighter on a MK1 Xantia and if so how did you free it ?

Oh dear, I didn't think it was possible to push them in too far, perhaps it's not the original lighter?
To remove, undo two torx screws holding the bezel/surround that goes around the radio, heater and ashtray which reveals four more torx screws top and bottom of ashtray area IIRC. Then slide out ashtray so you can detach the two connectors. You can change the bulb while you fix it - save doing later.

Im not sure mike,
Ive tugged pretty hard on it and no joy, the only way to tug harder would be to get some molegrips on it but someone advised me not to pull too hard around that area but i cant recall why now.
I will perservere and get it out....as Richard suggested, get it on a bench and work it......sounds like the plan.

My V6 one was pretty well stuck together but in the opposite sense to yours Vince. It will not go fully in so useless for it's intended purpose and if you try, it gets stuck fast.
I was able to tease it out and then hide it.
Best bet is, as said, remove the complete ashtray and replace it from a scrapper or at least with teh assembly out it is easiert o work on and you should be than able to push it out from the back.
