106 1.5d Stop Solenoid leaking

Unread post by kernow »

Hello,
When the engine is running and you inspect the Stop Solenoid there is quite a lot of desiel leaking from around the green area on the top of the part. There appears to be a crimped metal part that goes around the green area.
I have been told that there may be an O-ring that can be replaced inside of the Stop Solenoid. Is this possible? How easy might it be and is there anything that I should before tackling this?
If I have to purchase a new Stop Solenoid is it easy to replace?
Many thanks for your advice.
Happy New Year all.

Try reading the 205 solenoid problems 'leemel' had, last post 28Dec.
It may give you some clue as to costs if the O ring is not replaceable.

A bit of a late reply I'm afraid - I'm usually in the Citroen folder.
I had the stop solenoid leak on my old AX. A commom problem, so I was told at Lucas. It leaks out around the crimping and can't be stopped. A replacement was around £25 + VAT as I remember.
It took me some time to actually identify the leak on my Lucas pump as I had recently removed all the unions for maintenance and I thought it eas these.

I've just had my 306 one out and first thing I did was drop the plunger and spring on the floor,so watch for that.Other than that its just like taking out a spark plug out.
