Xantia Key Fob Battery Change

Unread post by Alhambra »

I'm looking for advice on changing the key fob battery for my 1999 Xantia. I'm concerned about losing the settings when the battery is removed as I've only got the one key.

So, what is the reference number of battery, how do I open the key fob and are there any effects on the security alam settings?

Finally, how do I get a second key?

I changed (RF) key battery two times and I didn't loose settings.

Good luck,

For a new key you need your Citroen owner's code card which is size of a credit card.

Thanks for the advice - I don't have a Code Card, does that rule out getting a second key?

Owner's manual, code card and etc. should be passed to the new owner but when there are several owners during years they may get lost (I guess) :( .

I'm sure Citroen dealer can obtain your car's confidential code for you and program a key but be prepared that won't be cheap :!:
I managed with one master key so far and have a second key without electronic circuit.

Mate at work having that problem with his Picasso.*
He's had it about a year and has been meaning to get a spare key for it.
A couple of days ago his only key lost it's code.
He never got the card with the code on it.
Dealer was coming out with a Lexia and new key to fix him up this afternoon.
I'll let you know how much it cost him tomorrow.

*spellchecker thinks that should be Piccalilli. Not a bad substitute :)
