11k Xantia 1.9td auto on ebay
I wonder how much this one will go for!
I would bid, but I think it will be out of my price range later on. It got 12 bids in a matter of ours.
Nice car.

Now that is an interesting one!
Had this have been a manual i would have been seriously placing bids. However i might still keep an eye on this ... my daily commute could really do with a automatic ... so much traffic.
No tax which is annoying, i hate buying cars out of tax, makes it so much more of a hassle.
Looks perfect, however i do wonder if it has been serviced yearly. Surely it would have been but you never know, mileage wise its only needed one. Also at the cars age it should have had a cambelt change, though i bet it hasnt.
Looks pretty perfect though, nice colour too.
Would this have the newer adaptive autobox or the one before that?
Chris.

It would have the adaptive autobox, you can tell by the buttons and the selector gate, it would have the AL4 box. I don't car if it's manual or auto, the fact that it's auto is very cool indeed, it must be quite rare in that configuration, but with that mileage even more so, I reckon it will get close to a £1000, if not more.

No, im thinking more ... Maybe £1500 around there, maybe even a bit more.
Ive been trying to find a nice diesel Xantia, HDi preferably, but good low mileage ones usually go for around £1500ish. I missed out on a nice one last weekend which sold for £1450.
Though this being a 1.9TD Auto im not sure if that makes it more or less attractive.
11K miles, your not going to find another really are you.
Will keep my eye on this, though not sure if id like a 1.9TD auto.
Have not thought about an auto.

Being a Series 2, it will be a TURBO D lump with the AL4 auto box, with SPORT mode!!
And WOW is that something... Wrong colour for me though, and despite the miles, I REALLY couldn't get on with it..
AND HOW Lucky it didn't go SOMEWERE else ... need I have to say were??? A lucky rescue is what I will say!!
10pm, £410 quid already... I would be surprised with prehaps 2k???
Shall we have a poll??? What price will she get?? 1k? 1.5k? 2k? 2.5k?

I might just try an adaptive autobox if i get the chance, i do quite like automatics. Though some boxes i hate and others are not so bad.
I quite like the colour actuallybut unless a car is a really dreadful colour, then i buy on mileage, history, condition and availability usually. Though liking the colour does help, my last car was black, i hated it to bits, the colour not the car. Was the right car but the wrong colour. I said ill never buy another black car, chances are i will do if its a good car
Though it would have to be pretty special!

Reality check: IT'S AN LX!!
Despite the mileage and arguably the colour, it's hardly the most desirable
of Xantiae is it? Manual rear windows, no sunroof, normal hydropneumatic
sphere setup etc. This may be all you'd ever want and be perfectly happy
with although I believe it would be hard work after living with and being
spoiled by owning an Exclusive/VSX. I guess you can go out there and get
some secondhand alloys, leather seats etc to make it higher spec'd but they
won't have done the same 11k miles; buy it, use it and rack up the miles
and it just becomes another bottom of the range low spec Xantia with
nothing special about it.
Some of the low mileage cars I've bought over the years have been a real
sh!t to work on as they've never seen any real servicing so have been
virtually seized solid and brittle when any surgery is required - they're still
an old car. You're not buying an almost new car, but a rarely used old one
and there may be a very good reason nobody ever wanted to drive it
- maybe a Friday afternoon manufactured car or it's the subject of a finance/
insurance claim stalemate etc.
The "too good to be true/it's almost new" cars are always the one's that are
low spec/trim level and well down in the desirability stakes - another reason
perhaps why nobody has ever really been too excited about them in their
past!

Good point(s) Andrew, but I think bottom line is its a rare Xantia, and at the very least its in good cosmetic condition, if not overall good condition. Everything else can be repaired and replaced over time, whilst enjoying the journey. IMO when looking for a Xantia auto the most important thing is the auto box, a good working AL4 is a rare thing, because of this 'sealed for life' bunk the higher the mileage the more chance of a dead or damaged box. Most of the time when a AL4 box dies, the whole car dies with it due to cost of repair, and shortage of second hand replacements. at 11k the autobox has a very high chance of being a good one, should the rest of the mechanics be found wanting, they can be replaced at far lower cost.
Desirability wise, at this age of car, and this subsequent market segment, I would have thought a diesel auto even an LX would be higher than a V6 or Activa for most people.
I still reckon about £2k..

This car may of course be an exception but buy and be prepared to spend a lot to bring it up to condition. It'll need to be, as they quaintly call it in the glossier classic car magazines, "recommissioned" which is a polite way of saying it'll beed a full restoration
Give me a well maintained, well used car any day. My V6 for instance, has doe 164,000 miles now and has a cast-iron service history for a lot of of that. It's a bit dog-eared in places but fundamentally it's very sound in all the right paces.
