Ok ill be findful and check carefully, Ive just ordered a 5l of LHM from GSF, along with the Total flush.

I have every intention of keeping this one for the long run so i want it to be looked after, so im going to do most of the work myself to make sure its done right :D

Plus I wouldnt wanna get rid of it in the near future, everything about it makes me smile

Welcome to the FCF Steve :)

Certainly a nice model of Xantia you have there, the Exclusive is brimming with goodies. The 2.0 16V engine is a good unit too, quite economical too actually.

Sounds like you have found yourself a very good, well cared for example 8)

Im trying to find a diesel exclusive, its not easy, they are all petrols :?

How much did you pay on insurance if you dont mind me asking? Ive been getting quotes for around £1000 for a HDi exclusive at 22. Seems steep!

Im paying £692.48.
I have got institute of advanced motorists pass so that helped, but my insurance company (Kwik fit) wouldnt reconise it so im very confused and somewhat annoyed :S

all in all it seems a good car, a patch of surface rust the size of a 1p coin on the inner sill of the passenger side door (repaired this morning by myself) and thats it, just wanna run through the mantainance check list to keep it tip top!

One question I have for all on here is that its supplied with the two keys but one wont work (got £65 off the car as a result), tried changing the batt but nothing, whats the next plan?

Thats not bad at all, think i need to shop around!

The key: If its been flat for a while it might need reprograming, i know on the S1 cars this was very simple but not sure how its done on the S2, might be the same. Do you have one normal key and two remote keys?

The keys can fail, does it look worn or is it the better of the two, might give you some indication if its worn out.

Try having a search around on here for how to program a key and give that a go. :)

it has 2 remote keys and no standard key but i can live with that for now, going to get it all sorted as i go along.
the duff key has seen better days and i think it may be buggered to be fair, the only downfall to the keys i can tell is that they are bloody massive! pain to carry in your pocket at work lol.

If your shoppin for insurance try quinn direct, they have been given some bad press in the past but my sister was insured with them on her citroen xsara picasso, had a accident with a uninsured driver, had a curtosy car within 6 hours, claim settelled within 2 weeks and a very reasonable price :D

Might be neeing a new key. I asked about the normal key as im sure with the S1 cars you need that to recode the key? Its been so long since ive recoded a key i cant remember how though

Migh be better trying to find a good one on ebay, i remember we bought a new S1 key for around £50 from the dealers.

The keys are huge, S2s are bigger than S1 keys, which are an ok size. C5 keys are bigger again, massive things. Real pain in your pocket

Ive tried Quinn, they seem very expensive for me, over £2000 for the C5!

Im with admiral now, though actually i got a very good quote through Citroen the other day.

Wow, if thats your 'to do' list, your very lucky!

All sounds pretty easy, regassing is usually anywere from £40-£80.

Autobox oil change is pretty simple, dont forget to clean out the filter too and check the level after a drive, when gearbox is warm.

LHM flush and change isnt too bad, can take some time if you havent done it before. Im sure there is a how to guide on here though.

New tyre, i wouldnt have thought it would have aged too badly being under the car. Though tyres are cheap.

Driving is the best part, its what we have these cars for, right? :D Your lucky in having the Exclusive, you have the H2 suspension and SPORT button! Nice 8)

I was impressed with Citroens quote, thats one of the lowest ive had.

Odd your insurance company didnt accept your avvanced motorists pass, thats the whole point in doing it surely. I have a class 2 HGV, though ive never used it, i wonder if that would reduce my premiums

The sport button is deffo a plus, I brought it from birmingham, and if anyone knows the area on rush hour, everybody goes mental!
so pressed sport and pulled out out of the junction onto the dual carrageway and booted it, was flying withing a few seconds, and sounded amazing!

as for the hgv licence u can always try!

I hate driving in Birmingham, not a place i go often but im forever getting lost when i do

The sport button quickens the cars reactions to your inputs, how aggressive you are with the steering, braking and accelerating. It doesnt actually give you more performance (though 135bhp in a Xantia would be nice!) but it makes it tighter to drive. Really love this feature on the Xms, excellent.

So it stiffens the suspnsion accordingly, depending on how aggressive you are driving, or if you have the button pushed. I drove an exclusive yesterday, sadly its sport function was not working, all spheres must be correct to allow it to work, these were not the right ones. Still, it drove very well. How nice are the heated seats!

Ill give it a shot!

What's this, Chris? You're taking the plunge with a Xantia purchase - it's not
an Exclusive TD with an autobox is it? Have a bit of fun and drive an engine
that rewards a bit of enthusiastic driving; 150 or 196 is handier mind! After
all, the TD's you've got do all the daily chores - try something a tad different
for the weekend!

Almost the same amount as 12 month's tax...
Actually, I had you down for an Activa next Chris.

Yes im after a Xantia Andrew, though im wanting it to replace my 206, which is too cramped for me. So im wanting a diesel as i do quite a few miles every week, and that will be my daily cruiser!

The longer version:
Me and my sister have swapped cars for the last few months, she wanted a bigger car and something which could have a tow bar fitted. I was a bit bored with the C5 as its no drivers car and i havent really caught the C5 bug! However my sister loves it.

So i thought it would be a good idea to swap, the Peugeot is worth more so that cost me. Anyway im now finding the 206 too small and cramped, since im 6ft 2, and find the pedals far too close. Its also far too bumpy and noisey at motorway pace - i wasnt doing this many miles when i got it. Its only good when im on nice country roads, its like a little go cart. Ive decided I cant 'do' small cars now as Im doing lots of motorway miles and want something a bit bigger and something which appeals to me - hence the Xantia, something ive always wanted to own and probably should have got one when thinking of a C5.

I still drive the C5 a lot and its still a great car but it didnt capture me. I prefer the slightly older Citroens, Xms and Xantias mainly. Ive never owned a Xantia so thought now would be a good time!

So there you go, im now after a S2 Xantia diesel for my daily commuter. Your Xantia family doesnt consist of such a thing does it Andrew?

An Activa, well maybe, will see how i get along with a TD/HDi Xantia first, then i might get it a mate :)

Chris

P.S, Sorry for taking over your thread slightly there Steve. Back on topic ...

Thats quite alright lol.
Just got in and went for a drive, a little annoyed that I got stuck in traffic for 35 mins but it was good, the more i drive it the happier I am.

Only gripe I have is as i said before, that im not used to the brakes, once again i nearly found myself needing a full set of crowns! Will take some time to adapt to I think :D
