Activa suspension issue..

Unread post by citroenxm »

Hi guys,

Not sure if this is Activa specific OR a common Xantia problem? But thought Id post here as its on an Activa..

Met someone tonight with an Activa.. He has had Height correctors off, and cleaned up, and the horrid height corrector control levers all cleaned up, assembled back together, rear end working fine up and down, however, the front is STUCK UP, even by manually pushing the height corrector by hand, well moving the linkage by hand, makes no difference...

Would this be still height corrector problem, or something on the ARCS side of things? Could he have possibly got the side were the TWO pipes are the wrong way round??

Sorry if its NOT a direct activa Q, feel free to move to the correct section..

I cant say if its a Series One Or Two either... :-(

Height correction is the same on an Activa as any other hydraulic Citroën, as you suggest he have reversed the pipes when he reconnected the corrector but I'd have thought that If he's operating the corrector manually he would have found the suspension moving in the opposite direction to what he intended  .

When you state he operated the height correctors manually is that by the lever inside the car or directly on the corrector i.e. under the car? I'm wondering whether the linkage is incorrectly attached/adjusted.

Series 1 or 2, the suspension is the same other than slight differences in the roll corrector ram part numbers (I've never found anyone who could state what the differences are between the different ram part numbers/rams).

Thanks DikieG,,

He has a ramp, so I guess from under the car directly on the height corrector...

I sugested lack of Pressure, as on anti sink systems unless theres the correct pressure in the susyem the valves dont open to let the car down, on that he recalls NO Pressure hiss from the regulator when opening the 12mm nut..

Should I re-post under Citroen??

I hope this helps: maybe!?

I'm guessing that the bleeding and thorough purging of all the circuitry at
the front is a time consuming process on a Xantia and further complicated
by the additional Activa ARCS components so probably opening the extra
circuit lifting the car and altering the attitude of the height corrector allowed
the trapped air to move through the system where it was finally expelled.

Anyhow, all is now well with said car as it passed the magic MOT this morning
with a few silly (minor) advisories! Yay!!

Ahhh fantastic Andrew, glad shes passed her test!

I still would like one of these, simply to experiance the ARCS, and see the boy racer faces!!
