Jim's famous G-CAT! Jim knows them. There are YouTube videos of it too.MikeT wrote:Thanks for sharing! By the way, I don't suppose you/we know the owner of the 7-colour or pearl (or whatever they're called paintjobs) CX?DickieG wrote:For photo's look here
I agree with the comment on the photo's. Not a fan of that kind of thing but that CX is the exception, very well done. I bet the paint job cost more than the car!
Excellent turn out, some superb cars there. The SM powered DS cabriolet looks the business! The SMs are amazing.

You mean you've never heard of CGAT!?
Neil Hotham from Hull is the very proud owner of the Cx with a difference!
He's spent literally 1000's and 1000's on the car over the years and the
engine and box need to be seen to be believed - I've seen dirtier new cars!!
The running gear/injection/turbo in fact you name it is totally different/non
standard and I recall Neil once telling me he turned down a genuine serious
offer from a Japanese businessman in excess of £20k but couldn't as it had
become his pet project/sparetime project where he's put his heart and soul
into it!

G-CAT is truly an awesome car. Photos just do not do it justice.
More amazing is what it looks like under the bonnet...
Neil is to the CX what Len Drew is to the DS
Len is the owner of the most incredibly concours white DS you will ever see. Everything on it looks brand-new and better finished than ever it was when it left the factory.

The paintjob(s) are pukka Citroen dealer ISO standard and have been
thoroughly done throughout the whole stripped down car and due to
several 'issues' in the past needing a complete new rerun each time!
Heresay perhaps, but I actually preferred Neil's original light metallic
(almost standard) finish it once had with blue, yellow, red and green
mica metallic paint flecks subtly altering the overall sheen of the colour
effect and thus appearing more original. Not sure I like the blue and
yellow finish to parts in the engine bay either but this is just a picky
personal thing and fair do's to Neil - top man!!

CGAT is certainly something to see, ok it might not be to everyones taste but its certainly different, and look we all know it
I recall him saying he tries to keep it a bit modern with a different choice of wheels every so often. Its current ones look quite similar to some of the more modern Citroen range, C-Crosser etc.
Lens DS is something else, truely awesome, far better than it would have looked new. You would not believe a car could look so fresh unless you saw it. Perfection!
Looks like a fantastic event, i did think about driving down but its a heck of a way. Looks like a lot of very interesting cars there. Atleast i can look and the nice pictures from here 8)

So thanks to Jennie for traveling even further, there should be an award for the person who travels the furthest, because as Roy Castle said "that's dedication."myglaren wrote:Considerably further for Jennie!ACTIVE8 wrote:

Mr Hotham has got himself quite a reputation then! I'd like to see a detailed view of his engine bay and ask questions but it appears I'd have to join the queue. Personally, I think the car looks too garish (is that a word?) and blingy but there's no argument he's put an awful lot of money into it and gets enormous satisfaction in showing it and the attention it draws so good on him I say.
I once bought a 2.4GT CX simply because it was cheap and all I could afford at the time without realising what a marvel of a car it was. It dumped it's hydraulics in the middle of Ealing High Street one Friday night leaving me with what felt like a tank to push to the side of road after which it got scrapped I'm sorry to say. If only I knew then what I know now.
I will never forget the pure luxury and comfort of the interior - the first car I'd ever occupied that had cushioned roof lining! It was quite a novel car for a teenager - the dual rear blinds, the bonnet scoop, the bizarre spinning speedo and rev counter, the dual tone two stage horns (tinny beep for town traffic with a louder, deeper phhaaaaarrrp! for fast motorway speeds) which I used to great effect making the victim think two cars were having go at them
.
The engine pulled the heavy car with ease to 90mph (and beyond) and that was just on the on-ramp! Though I do recall a tractor unit (artic without the trailer) enjoyed racing me one night (and overtook me
) which gave me a hint to what real torque is all about.
Since joining this forum and learning the CX also came in turbo form, I've been itching to have a go in one. I suspect Ian's makes quite a bit of power but I can't find any evidence of that.
