HELP TAKING HP PUMP OFF XANTIA HDI

Unread post by moggy74 »

sourched a re con one from Pleides,....ok now for taking the old one off,is the small pulley between the bottom pulley and the air con pulley the maually adjusted tensioner,if so this needs to be slackened to pop the belt off?..the bottom long mounting bolt on the pump looks like a pig to get off,is it a hex or torx and only accessble through the pump pulley?...does the black box need to come out the way to get the bolt out?....

any help would be great thanks guys....

Lower the car, Lever in car fully forwards... BUT ONTO A JACK!! MAKE SURE JACK IS ON SUBFRAME... Release the system pressure on the regulator... 12mm bolt, access from the top on HDi cars..

Remove inner wheel arch, under the wing, to gain access to the belt and tensioners... Release the manual eccentric tensioner with an 8mm Allen head key.. then remove top mount with jack under the engine and lower the engine to reveal the auto tensioner pully, it will have a torx 40 I THINK bolt head, use a torx 40 to release the tension and slip the belt off!

BE CAREFULL THE TROX DOESN'T SLIP OUT, the SPRING IS VERY STRONG, but it does work!

Then you can either put the top mount back on or leave it on the jack untill you reassemble.

Remove the two 10mm bolts holding the pipes to the SIDE securing points, then with a 12mm spanner undo the two feed pipes THESE CAN BE TIGHT...

Then, Yes, the lower bolt is a 6mm ALLEN HEAD but its all designed to fit through the holes in the pullys! So dont panic..

The lower bolt goes right through to the other side and is screwed into the other side of the lower pipe securing LONG NUT... 17mm from memory..

The only other one is the top pipe securing nut, thats 13mm I think, then the pump should wriggle out...

If your not sure how to depressure the system, shout, and we can explain clearer, but thats a basic way to get the pump off..

Good luck

Many thanks for your help,i did the job very easily with your step by step help...only thing i would say i didnt have to undo the engine mount, just slackened the manual tensioner, then managed to slip the belt off the pump, only thing then i forgot to peg the auto tensioner,so it sprang back, but still managed ok,put the bottom bolt through the pump then pivoted the pump up,which sprang the tensioner back....
