NON Air Con Cooling Fans Question

Unread post by citroenxm »

Hi all..

A small question about the circuitry of the cooling fans on an Early 1993 Xantia NO Air Con..

Are these also wired in parrellel?? The 3 relays are present between them in the Triangular box..

What Im needing to do, Ive installed Air Con, but obviously need to wire in a Override for the Fans when the Air Con is on.. problem is, I can only get the fans to run together when the ignition is off and in slow speed, but when ignition is on, only get one to run full speed...

Ive looked at the wiring diagram - and understand it a bit, but not sure were I can tap in to over ride them when the air con is on..

Anyone have and clues for me? :D Pretty please..... :) :)

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

The early non-aircon models are different even to later ones I believe.

Does yours have the thermoswitch in the rad?

I'll see if I have the circuits but I have a feeling I don't go back top the really early ones.

Hi Jim..

Yes it does, and thats the Circuit that Haynes DOES HAVE in the book, I just cant follow it to make the two fans run together slowly with ignition on..

If you've not got it, Ill scan a copy to you.. and see if you can help and work it out.. Its "dooing my head in..."

I've got the pukka one open right here Paul.

Give me a few mins and I'll have a good gander at it and see what needs to be done.

Paul,

Relay 1500A needs to be operated (switched on) for slow fans. (1500B and C operate for fast and put the fans in parallel but remain unoperated in slow).

To operate 1500A you need to earth wire 159 that goes to pin 3 of the thermoswitch. Problem is, this is a direct connection from the thermoswitch (1505) to the relay base with no convenient place to tap in except at the switch itself.

Hope that helps.
Jim
