Knickers.....

So I pulled off the front bumper, fan shroud, headlamp etc to get to the perished LHM return hose. Up on ramps, depressurised system, cut off hose and flooded the drive with green stuff. I guess it must have been syphoning as removing the return pipe from the tank abated the flow.

Next, having cleaned up the mess I tried to fit the length of petrol hose that I had just obtained from Hal..you know where. Too small. The I.D. is 8mm and I'm going to need probably an I.D. of 12 mm. Each end of the original pipe has been pre moulded to a different size, the upper one around 10mm and the lower around 15mm, so I'm hoping that a 12mm bore will fit both ends with a bit of jiggery pokery.

So now the car is stuck on ramps, blocking the drive and not much chance of getting any hose until Monday

Still, it gives me a chance to continue my refurbishments, she'll be as good as a new 'un soon

I just hope that those are French knickers you are wearing!

Try a B&Q if you have one locally, there are tons of bits and pieces there that you might be able to use to bod... repair the hose. One being a 15mm to 9/10 mm copper reducer for water pipes. They have the armoured fuel-type hose in various sizes too.

Thanks for the heads up, I wouldn't have thought of B&Q for petrol hose. I'll pop in my local tomorrow.

So anyway, I decided to go to a local hydraulics specialist for a length of hose as I couldn't get anything bigger than 10mm elsewhere.

The guy sold me a meter of hose for £14 and said it was good stuff and would take just about anything you wanted to shove down it, hot or cold. I should hope so for that price.

It's fitted now and seems to be doing its job so far, fingers crossed it doesn't desolve.

Gotta be better than the old perished one though. I'm glad I inspected it, the top end was badly perished but the bottom was even worse and had split almost all the way through at one point
