Xantia know your suspension thread (request)

Guys, ive had a good idea.....shock horror :shock: :lol:

Can anyone post up a picture of the front underside suspension and rear underside suspension and add arrows and titles to show what each component is called? A bit like the "know your engine thread"

I know it would help me.....and countless others i reckon :wink:
1993 Citroen xm 2.1td, silver/grey, bowling ball wheel trims, 210k and climbing...

It'll need three:

Normal (non Hydractive);

Hydractive;

Activa.

Funnily enough, I have one of each so I guess I'd best be getting busy with my camera :wink:

The Haynes BOL makes an attempt at this but the annotation goes
something like:

1: wheel - maintain pressure - 3 spanners (or ask AA man to sort out for you)
2: another wheel - tyre pressure - 3 spanners (as above)
3: engine - caution big heavy oily thing (15 spanners) main dealer maintenence recommended only
4: washer bottle - VERY IMPORTANT - this must be kept above halfway mark (5 spanners) :roll:

Actually, If I can find the French Revue Technique the illustrations in that
are great and worth scanning in and posting here!!

Mind Jim, did I read that right?? Are you seriously considering parting with the
'only sensible one' in your stable?

You'll be buying an Xm or a CX next if not another Activa... :twisted:

Send him down here again. There's plenty of Dees needing sensible owners, that are "good" by UK standards.

No Kev, I'd imagine constant exposure to a very nice DS will blow all
'sensible' circuits of even the coolest calmest person around...

The good thing about a Dee, is there's one to please everyone.

Plushophiles will love a late DS23P, while those with eccentric tastes might pick an LHS-suspended second front Safari.

Personally, having a love for that era when "everything" was new and technology was a wonder to admire - not resent - the earliest Dees float my boat.

Well, after careful consideration, no. The 2.1TD stays, as does the Acticva and the V6. To be honest, I can't bear to part with any of them. Too emotionally attached...

One day another will join the stable. I still very much fancy a Slough built Light 15 (traction) but my real aspiration is to get an SM...

Cost and lack of garage preclude either for the foreseeable :(

i was going to say a traction (no not engine),

the SM has the ACTIVA side ways leveling struts on its head lights,
these are to make extra sure the head light aim is corect,

why a self leveling car needs self leveling head lamps i dont know, a bit OTT,

although the D's have mechanical self adjusters on there head lamps

Yes they do and on both the front and rear axles for some reason.

The headlight adjustment is instantaneous, give or take - while self-levelling takes a little time. It's just insurance that the headlights will be pointing pretty much in the right place (especially the swivels) when needed.
