Activa V 306 S16 Road Test

Unread post by XantiaMan »

Found this on the web, it makes very interesting reading. Particulary the points about it rolling through the slalom test. I though it was just mine where the steering seems to lose assistance in some circumstances, and also the roll that you can get in certain circumstances (usually low speed, sharp turns)

Also, interesting to see 'real world' performance figures with the 0-60 at 8.9 seconds, which is much quicker than the Citroen official times.

Interesting reading :)
That rolling on the slalom, would that be down to incorectly setup roll correctors or is it just another quirk?

Its a real shame Citroen didn't go ahead and produce the actual Activa/Xantia coupe

A 'quirk' or a safety feature, the latter i think is more likely, IMO.

A quick reminder of how an Activa operates gives the answer to that question, namely that on a sharp turn (such as a slalom) there is no roll correction as all that happens is that the front anti roll bar is stiffened by way of the roll corrector ram locking solid (to effectively make the anti roll bar a 28mm bar IIRC which is unusually large for a saloon car).

The roll correction only come into play on long extended corners such as motorway exit slip so in answer to the question of whether that Activa in the test is working correctly then I'd say yes it is.

Ahh I see :D I think a read up in the Citroen Technical Guide is necessary.
Thinking on it then, the Activa doesn't strictly Active suspension, its reactive :?:
The Citroen Xantia Reactiva

If you could play around with the ARCS could this be negated at all so that it is always on as it were? Just thinking if people track their cars it could be a usefull thing to have in the slower sections or is it something that is only active below a certain speed?
