Hi folks,
my xantia has suddenly lost power. There is little reaction when I do a kicdown and it's difficult to get the engine rev over 3000-3500 while driving. Can this be related to a exhaustleakage (gasket in the exhaust manifold I think), which I got at the same time the car lost power. Any ideas ? No warning lamps, low milage on spark plugs and airfilter. starts fine, idle is ok.

It's only a guess, but it does sound a bit like an exhaust manifold problem. I had this happen to me quite a few years back with my BX16, if anything my car's reaction was even more extreme, as I couldn't muster enough power to get the thing off the driveway (steep upward gradient). The engine did idle normally, and rev OK, but as soon as the clutch bit, the car would lurch and die, whatever the engine speed.
The cure was a new exhaust manifold gasket, and replacement of a couple of mounting studs.

Thanks Stu. Sounds like you had many of the same symptoms, as I do have now. Have arranged repair at the Citroen Garage.
