lifetime warranty on the engine for £49.99 for 5 litres.

Personally I don't believe in oil additives, if the additives are so good why are they not in the oil to being with?
Every year the major oil companies spend millions of pounds on R&D, they would have noticed if they could improve on their products.

Also I'm sure they can figure a way out of their warranty, checking the fine print right now I noticed this little clause

"Prolong is the only Motor Oil and Engine treatment company to offer a Lifetime Limited Product Engine Warranty and also has the most generous eligibility requirements of any engine treatment warranty available. A vehicle less than 10 years old, with less than 100,000 miles on the odometer may be registered. "

As most cars will make it to 100,000 miles with very poor minimal servicing. I don't think much of their warranty.

Agreed! If your too damm lazy to change yur oil at specified intervals, or too tight with yur cash to pay for the oil to change it, then quite simply, you shouldn't be driving!

Theres NOTHING absolutly NOTHING that beats changing the oil for new oil over prolong the life of exsisting stuff, once its black its done its job and PROTECTS NO MORE....

Get it changed!

i agree there is no substitute for fresh oil and filter every 6000 miles on my two cars even though they have 12,500 service intervals

oil is cheaper than engines

I change my oil every 5,000 miles with oil costing less that £10.00 per five litres and I've never worn an engine out yet. My present one has done nearly 200,000 miles. In my humble opinion, frequency of oil changes is far more important than the oil you use, providing it meets the appropriate spec.

Absolutely agree with all views so far expressed here.

I've never been a fan of additives of any kind and their website does nothing to convince me of their claims.

just because the oil is black in colour doesnt necessarilly mean it has done its job and is ready for changing, for a start most diesel oil goes black quite quickly or is black when you buy it.

I'll go further.

An oil that goes black is, in fact, doing its job perfectly. It's keeping the mucky bits in suspension instead of allowing them to settle in places they shouldn't.
