I'm picking up an early C5 HDI at the weekend, and wondered if anyone can tell me if it's OBD II compliant, at least as far as reading basic fault codes etc.
Can anyone help, please?
2001 C5 2.0 HDI 110 OBD II Compliant?

I have a scanguage, its a plug in thing which can clear basic codes, but mainly it reads out technical info.
Such as MPG, actual MPH, coolent temp, MAF, Engine load etc. I got it for my last car as it did not have a MPG readout, which i like.
However, this does not work with the C5s, it plugs in but fails to connect. Maybe something to do with the C5 system?
The plug port is in the glovebax, there is a small panel with a tray attatched, this pulls off and has the fuse box and plug behind.
Incedentally, the C5s MPG computer is a little on the low side. Mine seems to manage 7MPG more that it tells me its doing
Which is great, im glad it doesnt over read

European cars are only OBDII compliant in general if:
- Petrol made after 2001.
- Diesel made after 2004.
Our 2003 C3 HDi is not compliant, I've checked using its VIN on the service website, which states it is not compliant, and have connected an OBDII scanner with no success - won't connect.

The HDi Citroens aren't OBD 11 compliant until 2004 ish.
Lexia or Proxia works fine.
My 2002 C5 doesn't work with OBD 11 scanners.
My 2 daughters have each got a W reg ( 2000 ) Saxo 1.1 petrol. They are 2 months apart on first registration date. The older one won't connect to OBD scanners but the slightly younger one will.

I think I've posted this before somewhere but the 2000 HDi (110) Xantia defiantly works with ODB2 protocol devices, I have a cheap ELM 327 unit that had no trouble talking to my HDi. However it seems to be the only Xantia which will talk to ODB2 devices.
From what I understand the C5 HDi's don't talk to ODB2 devices, strange huh.

It could be that the ELM scanner is actually translating the the L and K line infomation via software. Nice to know that some cheap readers work after all.
More infomation here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On-board_diagnostics
Keep in mind that generic scanners are generally only able to give basic information and that this could be misleading.
My 53 plate C5 2.0 HDI won't work with an OBD device I have to use a Lexia.
Steve.

i thought the European standerd is EOBD, as the E states European,
but as stated earlier it was legislated all European cars
petrol from 01
diesel from 04
must be E/OBD compliant
even though the car manufacturerd in there wisdom still thought they would be clever, and have manufacturerd dedicated pins (cheaky)
