c5 on the floor :(

hey all ive got a c5 2.0 hdi and its sat on the floor got no movement from the suspension at all, looks like a seriously lowered sports car lol

i gather this is gonna be one of them real expensive fixes

anyone any ideas what could have given up ? ?

its an estate btw in case makes any difference

Check the fuse for the suspension pump - should be indicated in the handbook (mine is not accessible at the minute)

The main fuse for the suspension motor is maxi fuse 8 which is located underneath the main underbonnet fusebox. Check all the fuses though in both fuseboxes.

There were handbooks for all Citroen models online about a year ago but I haven't been able to find them lately.

I was in france and the car started yoyoing before being stuck with suspesion up. The sister-in law bounced like a panda on a fire all the way home in the back. It was fun.

Anyway it was the little switch thingy (Technical terms eh) under the centre of the car on th the tray which har corroded so it was replaced for 30 quid. A simple thing really. it's been okay since.

I could go on to tell you the car then developed unrelated problems costing 1500 euros (Corroded and powdered calipers etc) which we duly paid only to crash our car into one that had been parked by the mechanic behind me as I reversed out of the garage. The woman getting her fixed car back watched in horror as I crumpled it's front. The mechanics misteriously walked away from her and disappeared. Sacre Bleu...more money. A great holiday.

If I am not completely mistaken I believe that the C5 height sensors are optoelectronic. Could be that a fault there could set it yoyoing.
Even the previous mechanical ones fitted to the Xantia/BX/Xm etc. may give rise to similar behaviour, perhaps if the mountings for the carriage became loose?

Have you checked the LDS level?

Hi,

The suspension height controls on the C%, one front and one back, are potentiometers.

They cost about £30 each and take about 5 mins to change, one bolt and one electrical connector and one ball joint.

The tracks do wear as the potentiometer wiper is always in almost the same position because the control system works by seeing the change in potentiometer reading as the suspension is moved by road or load as an error signal and then adjusting the car height to cancel it by bringing the potentiometer reading back to the same null point each time.

The wear area causes initially a dead band and the car hunts up and down around the faulty position. Had my rear pot start doing it recently, suspension was hunting up and down about 2-3" every few seconds.

Quite amusing as the HID Xenon lights were moving in opposition to correct it and were waving up and down !

hi i've got a 2.2hdi and i had same probs had it in cit specialists and everything checked out it was the suspension pump,electric motor had burnt out could'nt get a new anywhere in uk or france through cit uk, had to resort to secondhand one for £250 and £500 for checking car out and fitting pump.
