Back box on 2.0 VSX advice

Unread post by admiral51 »

I have checked out my exhaust problem and it would appear that the clamp for the join between centre pipe and back box has rusted away and let the centre section resting on the cross beam :) :)

I know the back box needs replacing due to some largish holes but having checked the rubber mountings/bushes they seem fine so apart from the rear box and new clamp is there anything special i should be looking out for apart from the exhaust paste

Cheers

BLIMEY!! Thats awfull!!

DO IT YURSELF! Its the easyest part to do!!!! You cant go wrong.. a tip, use some fairy liquid or equivilent, to help slide the rubbers onto the hangers EASYLY!!

ATS is no better, I had a Battery fitted to our Works Van (XUD 1.9 LDV Pilot) and they charged us 105 quid!!

I bought a battery for a customers Xantia XUD 1.9 turbo, £40 quid, fitted it myself! :o

Just make sure to get the correct part. The rear silencer for a 1.9TD looks identical, but is different internally and resonates badly if fitted to the 2.0 petrol engine.

Those prices are nothing, i was quoted £485 + vat for a back box for a 1.6 F**t Tempra i once had thats supply only from quackfit in steel, thats a silencer with 3ft of bent pipe at one end and a 4" tailpipe  i think they where quoting for a new car.

They got the decimal too far to the right there Dean :)

Best one I had was £18 for a complete system for a Renault 4.
Which was admittedly more than the car was worth.
