No, seriously, Conti ComfortContact-1 all-round.
They seem fine and are wearing well
That's interesting. I used to drive through Gislaved most days and that meant passing the tyre factory, which has, as far as I know, been owned by Firestone since around 1976.Koukku wrote:Activa originals were Michelin SX GT, production ended long time ago... Pilot Primacy was what Michelin suggested as a replacement.
I'm currently running some black round Gislaved set, bought by the previous owner. Horrible tyres, very soft side walls, no grip on the wet.
I rate them well for all of the above, including the fact that I managed to get them at a reasonable price, and I also did the fronts to start with, then changed the rears, and therefore was able to compare the difference between what the car came with, and these new tyres.superloopy1 wrote:Marks out of 10 for roadholding, braking, roadnoise in the dry and wet?ACTIVE8 wrote:Pirelli P7s all round which are W rated! 8)
Mine are H rated Speed 606... maybe the V or W rated have stiffer side walls. Lowering the pressure on the fronts helped a bit, they don't seem to fold under so much anymore.myglaren wrote:That's interesting. Never had any of their tyres but I was planning on trying them out one day.
If they are both W rated, how did you ascertain the sidewall stiffness?superloopy1 wrote:Well now ..
No Michelin Pilot's to be had anywhere so my choice comes down to Pirelli P7's OR ContiPremiumContact2's![]()
Both tyres are 'W' rated but I think the sidewalls trength is greater on the Contis.
Anyone any opinions on which is the way to go out of these two.
Cost wise it's much of a muchness ... rounds off to around the £375 mark for a full set. I only need a pair but am not happy with idea of mixing and matching so my rear Michelins with a fair bit of tread left will be put onto a couple of spare MK2 alloys.
So what rating are these tyres?anybloodybody wrote:Vredestein Sportrac 3 tyres (205x16x50) £60 each.
Tough sidewall/shoulder - but they all wear there - you just cant help taking the corners fast in these cars. It's too easy.![]()
I've always used Vredesteins, ever since my Mich Primacy Pilots ran out.
I loved those tyres.
