- Just an addendum to the well-known method.
Remove the internal piece of your lock button (that bit which grips the wire's serrations and clips inside the button proper) then hold it upside down with some fine-nosed pliers.
Plunge the grippy end into boiling water until it loses the "memory" of being deformed. Allow a few seconds to cool, then reassemble your button with the internal piece's catch tab located in the lower recess.
Proceed as per normal; this restoration of the part's original inside shape ensures a factory-perfect look upon reassembly.
