Activa Electrovalves

Unread post by KevMayer »

My question is - is the electrovalve on the Activa block energised to switch the Activa sphere into the circuit to give a softer anti roll bar for straight line driving, or is it de energised to switch the sphere into service.

I know that the front and rear hydractive electrovalves are energised to switch to soft mode but, I'm sure I read somewhere that the Activa block electrovalve is in soft mode by default and energises to switch out the Activa sphere to give the stiffer anti roll set up.

I've just looked up the description of Activa suspension in the Citroenguide.pdf and it suggests that the electrovalve is energised to switch the Activa sphere into circuit. So, now I'm confused (I bet you are too after reading this lot..).

The second one! The Activa valve energises to stiffen the anti-roll bar and liven up the roll correction.

Would you happen to know if the active roll correction is supposed to rely solely on information coming from the roll corrector, or should it take input from other sensors (steering, throttle, lateral acceleration...) as well?

I'm sure it does, as response would vary depending on whether the suspension were in hard or soft mode.

Thanks sl4yer..

koukku. There's a good write up on the Activa suspension in the Citroen Guide at the following link:-

Thanks for the link. So I guess it's actually both... the first mode (Activa rams reacting to roll) is active all the time, and the second mode (Activa spheres isolated) is activated in the same way as hard mode in Hydractive2. Certainly explains why the car will try to correct roll even when standing still. :)

I had actually read the document, especially the activa part, a few months back (before I bought the Activa), but either I had forgotten most of it, or maybe I just didn't understand it back then.

It's truly a fascinating system. :)
