Hi all,
This is for a 2000 Dispatch 2.0 HDi.
Did a search here and googled but still confused, can any one help.
Have a broken fob and no code card.
I have several questions so here goes!
1. Is transponder in key blade and fob is for C/L?
2. If fob has IR I take it this is for Infra red as opposed to radio signal. If so one won't do for the other will it?
3. If I buy a 2nd hand fob, can I get this re programmed and just change the key blade over ?
4. Does it have to be a Blip type fob, which is what I have now?
4a. I was wondering if it was poss to use old fob with key for ignition and use other fob for C/L save changing blade over.
Many thanks for any help and advice
Remote key fobs ????

1. Yes the transponder is in the actual keyblade
2. A 2000 dispatch has an RF type remote & is not interchangeable with IR type.
3. Im told you can reprogram these but you will need diagnostic equipment to do it.
4. Dont really understand that question, there is only one type of blip/fob.
4a. Why would you want to do that ? it takes about 20 seconds to change the blade over.

Re syncronising (like after changing the plip battery) the plip is different to programing one to a new car, you definitely need diagnostic gear to do it.Homer wrote:The Xantia RF plip could be reprogrammed by a series of presses on the remote with the ignition turned on. I'm not sure if yours is the same.
Thanks for your replies,
Wheeler, that was a most precise and helpful reply. That has cleared the issue up completely.
I have a price of £120 from citroen for a new fob which they tell me won't need to be re programmed. What I'm not sure of yet is the cost of them ( or an other) re programming a 2nd hand one.
From what I gather on the net, it can be borderline on price.
Anyway I shall investigate this armed with the good advice you have given.
Many, many thanks for your time and help.

The RF plips come blank & must be coded to the car with diagnostic gear. For this you need the 4 digit transponder code & all the keys you have for the van, any spare keys not re programed at the same time as the new one is will be deleted from the memory & wont start the car.bubber wrote: I have a price of £120 from citroen for a new fob which they tell me won't need to be re programmed.
Wheeler,
That price was for the fob only, to have a key as well was extra. The man in the parts dept said it would need re programming and to go speak to the mechanic. So I did and he said it wouldn't and if there was a prob they would check it on their diagnostics.
I can only assume that he meant to re programme new fob from old one??
Just when I thought I understood all this
