Who is the youngest C5 owner?

Post by bencowell »

6 years ago when I bought my C5 aged 23, the dealer thought I was the youngest C5 owner in the country.

Who is the youngest on here?

Ben
Currently driving a 2004 C5 VTR (old shape) and an Electric Kia Soul. Sorry but the electric one is my favourite!
Formerly Hyundai Genesis 3.8 V6, 2 x Kia Optima, 2 x C5, Xsara and Saxo.

Hi Dean,

As you may have realised, after me saying we have had the Xm 6 years, that would mean i would have been 15 when i bought it, nice idea, but unfortunately not.

The Xm is my dads, although after a spell off the road due to the MOT and tax running out because he never used the car, we got it road going again (not that it needed anything other than MOTing and taxing!) and i started using it as an occasional/best car.

So no its not really mine :( however i am the only person who drives it now, so ive pretty much taken it on as my own in the past year :)

My father pulls a similar stroke on me with MY cars actually, not that I mind
as I like them all rotated around in use to keep them fit! Do you do the DIY
Chris or does your Father as I somehow got lumbered with it!!

We both do it, he tought me how to recharge the spheres so i can do that now. Usually servicing i do, as with the rest of the cars, which i like doing. Bigger things my dad helps me with, although the Xm has never needed anything too major.

I would rather have one of my own, ive often thought about buying one, but then i always come to the conclusion that there is already an Xm there and its free for me to use. If i did get one of my own, i can't see our current one getting much use at all, im always saying cars are to be driven, so if it wasnt being used by me, it wouldnt be.

I see so many cars i want, mainly Xms and Activas, but so far have resisted buying one.

I got the Xm insured, for me to drive, last year so i could to take it to a CCC event and my dad was taking his van. Since then ive not been able to get out of it! Ive always liked Citroens, although never having the chance to drive one for any length of time before then, it was my first experience of driving a true Citroen.

So now im hooked as you know, the C5 will be my own first hydraulic Citroen, its no Xm, but it suits what i want perfectly.
I plan on getting an Xm or Xantia Activa some point soon, but we shall have to see how things go :)

hmmm

my dad keeps trying to get his hands on my coupe! and attempting to win me over with a cherokee that runs on LPG

(for sale if anyone wants it, in fact I will pay you to take it so he stops trying to force it on me  )

good if you live on a mountain with an LPG garage at the bottom

Chris, which recharging kit/system do you use? Valprex?

John, I guess when it runs out of juice getting to the top, gravity get's
it back down to the bottom? :)

Actually Dean, biggest mistake I've ever made over the years was loan
my cars to good friends as it's stretched the definition of good! :(
Unfortunately, for one reason or another they've all come back a lot
worse for wear and a Cx was so ruined it had to be scrapped...

Seems my 'thing' for sunroofs is a bit of a claustrophobia issue as I really
hate solid top lids; the v6 I've just got seems to be a very rare specced
model with one fitted and its tilted permanently and opened a lot of the
time irrespective of the weather - a star-roof sounds more exotic!! :P

Thanks Ben, its a great car, i love it 8)

Its had a good run out today, 5 people, lots of shopping and 4 huge bags of horse feed in the boot, up and down some some very steep and twisty roads, yet it still did 46.8MPG on that run. Not to mention the space, comfort, features and the drive. Superb car, as you know! :)

Thanks again, i might see you Sunday?
