As mentioned in this threadcertain Xantiae have "fat wings."

The reason(s) for the "fat wings" is detailed in the thread.

While working on my Activa I had to take the headlights, and front indicators off, it was apparent that there was a bracket there at the front of the wing to support the wing at the front edge.

This bracket connects to the inner wing.

So are these brackets only fitted to cars with "fat wings" or, do all Xantiae have them?

The reason why I asked the question in the above post is because, I have seen the bracket on the one side is connected to the inner wing, while the bracket on the other side is not connected.

Maybe there are long and short versions of the bracket, depending on the wing type?

Depending on how far you need to "dig in" it is possible to remove the bumper, then front panel with headlights still attached. That takes eight small bolts, the bonnet release cable, two headlight wiring plugs and you're away. Sometimes it's easier than playing gynaecologist...
