new brake discs

Is there a coating on new discs from AS, do I need to degrease them ?

Yes, get an areosol of brake cleaner and spray away

... or simply wipe with a petrol wetted cloth. Finally when last bit assembled - wipe again with a fresh & clean petrol wetted cloth - to remove greasy finger prints.

Personally I wash them with washing powder and boiling water then rinse VERY throughly.
Usually I can tell I've got them clean by the orange sheen that they develop by the time they've dried.
I think this is probably a bit of a harsh way to clean the discs since you only need to get the oil off the braking surface...
