Anyone else here with both a 24v and an Activa back to back?

I use to have both at the same time, and at the moment, i would really like the V6 Auto again, i really miss it :( :(

But i would also miss the Activa if that went. I think they are the 2 most exciting Xantia's in different ways.

The Activa fun to chuck round corners, the V6 nice to thrash effortlessly in straght lines. So comfortable, 1 arm on the arm rest, other on the steeringt wheel, hide one foot and woohoo....

Beyond the undoubted primary handling feature, the one thing I really REALLY
like about my Activa is the light precise hydraulic clutch - something missing
on the V6...

Xantia Heaven :D

No, in truth, I've been hooked on the V6 for as while and I've secured additional parking, so my wish can now be realised... :D :D

I'm really after a project V6, even one with a duff gearbox. After diesel pumps, I need a new challnge and an autobox would fit the bill nicely

Well, what I have found is the 3.0 drinks less fuel than the Activa's 2.0T! :?
Didn't see that one coming; the box really buffers any hooligan tendencies
towards the engine I guess helping the mpg but to get some point and squirt
like an Activa the sport switch helps somewhat!

Can't help feeling a hydraulic manual box clutch like the Activa's would
be superb on the V6 though which means a massively expensive LHD
import or a DIY conversion?

Really stupid place for the "S" switch too; why not put it somewhere
ergonomic for RHD on the dash near the AC or cruise switches!?
Makes the unnecessary armrest even more cumbersome in it's
selection when you decide it's time to give it some beans!

I know, sounds like I'm moaning but am just saying in the context of a
rapid Xantia, the Activa is the more rewarding drive for me! If I want
effortless motorway cruising, an Xm or Cx is a match or better than the
V6 Exclusive.

Bottom line; for me, I'd recommend folk stick with/go for an Activa!

I really am considering buying an Activa as a project....

....I fancy dropping a V6 in one. RHD V6 Activa sounds pretty good to me.

You'd be best starting with a W-reg Hydractive V6 and upgrading it to Activa spec. It will mean the least parts to import (front subframe and NSF strut). Everything else can be found locally.

Hang on - isn't the REAR subframe unique too?

Check out the mountings for the anti roll sway bar item 6 held by the cups (item 9):

Yes, it's different but can be sourced in the UK from any broken Activa.

Whereas the front subframe for V6 Activas was never used there, nor the unique NSF V6/Activa strut.

Late cars had the final revision of crossover sphere regulators; arguably they got it "more right" by then!

V6 shells have extra bracing under the front toeboard, I think against torque reaction.

Sorry Adam - I misread that - when you said parts to import, I understood
that to be imported into Australia!! Now I realise you meant the conversion
Toby has in mind! It'd still be compromised with THAT gearbox IMHO.
You'd be better to get a Peugeot 406 coupe MANUAL as a donor.

The fun starts here then Toby:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0300713590

hint: try making him an offer - he's quite amenable/reasonable in these
hard times!

So does anyone know what the deal is with the hydraulic clutch on the
Peugeot 406 and could this be made to work with the Activa system?
OK, if not, how would a clutch get plumbed from the V6 unit into an
Activa and would the Activa subframe be man enough if the V6 active
ram strut was fitted?

Works like a charm btw :D

From the onramp and to the highway you end in 5th gear fairly quick, them while cruising, insta-power, no delay.
A clon of the CT version I guess, but you get the pur from the V6 and full control of the ES9J4 wich is a absolute gem.

Final ratio is balanced, it just runs to the limmiter in topgear and normal crusing ( Not nessecarily legal  ) is @ 4000 rpm

Best gear-linkage and cluth-action ever..really

Cant belive it was'nt an option right of the bat

lol..allmost at the same time :-)

Anyways..here is the cluth for RHD..although a Phase 1

Image

ES9J4 is very compact, so low profile that the oilpan is more like a small dish, rather than bath tub size from the XU-series, crankshaft is deep in the engine alloy case

There is one thing odd, the 240 mm cluth vs. the 230 from the XU10J2TU and different part number in the cluth-slave kit..bellhousing, but looks very similar.
