renault scenic 19 turbo diesel likes to go backwards !

hi can anyone diagnose

renault scenic starts fine drives ok but dies at a junction
dosnt like to go forwards but will drive backwards fine
and is fine on tick over
on diagnostic pulled up 9 codes but were reset as no fault found
help appreciated

You mean your Scenic only really wants to pull away in reverse ?
Or does the engine in fact go backwards ... ??? (cant believe that though

)

The symptom is known as engine stall or injection timing set too early (high).
That points to either of 3 problems :
1) the coldstart injection timing modifier is sticking in the coldstart position
2) The antistall setting on your diesel pump is at wrong.
3) any TDC sensor controlling (or modifying) the injection timing is at fault.

Any Renault owner with specific Scenic Diesel knowledge may helpfully narrow in on likely defective parts. I cant do it better I'm afraid.

Hi. There is a good possibility that your brake lights need adjusting. No, don't laugh. As a fuel economy feature the engine management system cuts fuel to the engine when you brake, not enough to stall the engine but enough to bring it down to tick over. it gets the signal to do this whenever the brake lights are activated. If the brake light setting is right on the point of making contact even if the brakes are not applied you may actually lose power when driving or in your case they may stay on for a little while after braking at a junction...Ron
