c3 front spring `now with pictures`

parked the car up before christmas no problems drove fine went to drive it today front spring broken not just broken but it dropped all the way down the strut i am so glad i was not driving it at the time any way had to order a new spring from citroen as i have an XTR version and that is not listed in my local factors books i see that there was a recall done for this problem so will see my dealer and get the cups fitted.

i have just done my picasso front spring aswell i have to say thats it is a lot easier to change sphere`s on my Xantia

It's funny how they just break when stopped and parked up. I once watched in bemeused fascination a 406 do just this

Seems a common problem too. You're right, spheres are easy but what is ironic is that in the Xantias the strut top used to go and now it's the spring itself that goes to give the same overall effect bar the triangular bonnet.

PSA really do love to design fully collapsible front suspensions it seems

There was/is a recall on the C3 for breaking springs. Doesn't look like yours was done...

even worse my cars first owner was the director of a citroen garage i am the second owner.

spring now fixed my car is not subject to the recall even though the chassis number is between the two on the vosa sheet.

time to give Citroen HQ a stern e-mail.
