Hi guys, this may sound stupid but i got up this morning and had a great early morning with my kids opening their presents and the rest of it. I packed the car full of presents to take down to my family and on my way i went. Then the problem starts, upon starting my laguna i noticed a misfire, i got out checked the leads and made sure nothing was loose and then continued even with the misfire, i arrived at my mum and dads and the misfire was really bad. I also noticed a load knocking on tickover, again i looking under the bonnet and saw nothing. I dont know why but i decided to check the exhaust to see that it was hanging away from the engine. I also noticed that there was a wire hanging. Upon closer inspection i found this to come along the underbody of the car next to the brake pipes and it had been cut. I dont know who has done it and what the intention was but i cannot find where the other end goes, i have tracked the wire to the rear of the car but not sure where it goes at the front so as i can rewire it. If anybody knows what this wire is for it will help massively as i have it to do tomorrow, would have done it today but it is christmas.
merry christmas everyone!!!
vandals!! on christmas eve!!!

Sorry to hear about your problem.
What year is the car, and what model?
If it's a petrol engined model, there is a wire that will go to the exhaust on to a sensor called the lambada.
Do you have any warning lights on?

Shocking, absolutely shocking
That's not vandalism but theft
Some modern cars have very clever lambda sensors and exhaust gas temprerature sensors that need electronics close by; often contained in a box near the exhaust. VWs have these and they are very expensive.
I will hazard a guess that's what they have nicked and it would surely account for the bad running.
There have been reports of crims nicking cats as well for the scrap value of the precious metals they contain.

Hi, thanks for that. I am hoping when the scrayard opens tomorrow that i get somebody who doesnt know that they are VERY expensive and that they are still drunk from christmas and sell me one very cheaply! (cant see it though)
However this just goes to show what people will do whatever time of year it is. Does anybody know what this box may be called?
