Hi I have just purchased a 2005 scenic but the stereo does not work I have followed the instructions in the book but nothing works it says to leave the stereo on and wait until four zeros appear then enter your code I have waited for over an hour but nothing happens I know there is power to the stereo because it will take a cd in and out.
Please help as I hate having no music.
Thanks.
Nick.

Hi, You will find that if the code is entered incorrectly the the time between attempts goes up. I can't be 100% but from memory after a certian number of attempts it locks out the code altogether. If someone has done this before you got the car it could have been already locked out. Go back to the dealer or person you bought it from and ask them. If no joy it's the dealer for help. Remember under the sale of goods act that if you asked before you bought the car if everything was working OK and they didn't tell you, they are liable for the cost of repair.

You might have to wait a lot longer than an hour - I picked up a Blaupunkt CD player on ebay a few weeks ago which the previous owner couldn't get to work. I had to leave it on for four hours before it would prompt for the code.
The length of time you have to wait can depend on how many times the previous numpty tried to enter an incorrect code.
I couldn't leave the keys in the ignition for that length of time with the car parked on the street, so I chopped the end off an old laptop charger and wired an old ISO connector on in its place.
