its time to change my girlfriends car and i am looking at a 106 or Saxo diesel (shhh but the smaller the car the less likely she will knock the edges of )
anyway i have never had either of those cars before is there anything dodgy i should be looking for in particular? (other than my girlfriends right hook if she reads this )
cheers
peter

Most seem quite resiliant to women driving so should fair up well.
The 1.5 diesels are good and some even coem with a bosch pump.
If you can find one that does your onto a winner as it can run veggie oil and save you a small fortune in fuel if your willing to do a bit of work
mad not to nowadays when fuel could go to any mad price it wants

I want to soon go back to veggie use as i think i'd be insane not to as well even with the HDi's economy at 90p/litre is much cheaper to spend 30p/litre for filtered oil and stock pile loads of it to get me by for a while.
astonishingly difficult to get sellers to tell you what fuel pump their car has ...even when i explain the differences they are not that keen to lift a bonnet and look (or take a photo)

a supplementary question for anyone that can help.........
i didnt get an owners manual with the car so i am a tadge puzzled by one of the instrument icons
when i turn the ignition on on the left hand side of the instrument panel a yellow square with what looks like a key going into it lights up and then disappears.
what is this indicating? its a poverty spec one so no central locking or remote plipper unit ...just the good old key in the door....
is it telling me a immobiliser is disabled, or is this some other sort of eccentric citroen message?
cheers

Thats the immobiliser light. There is still a chip in the key (even though no central locking) that will 'talk' to the ECU via a transponder on the ignition surround (most likely position)
The light going out signals all is well. If you try to start it and it flashes whilst cranking, the immobiliser is kicking in which could be due to various issues, usually that it is not receiving the correct signal or no signal at all.
cheers for that ... i presume that means it would be rather expensive to get a spare key for it.....
