Certainly isn't ideal Chris. Unless you've got some sort of trader's policy, you'll only be insured to drive somebody else's car third party. And that's with the assumption that the somebody else has actually insured it!

Hi James,

Exactly, i could put it in my dads name and it would go on his traders policy. Im not going to do that though, if i was id have an Activa already. If its to be a second car then i need it in my name and insured fully comp, so thats why i need to wait a while, until inurance lowers a little more.

Why did Citroen not do a diesel Activa here, that would be perfect!

Correct. I think the clause is "not belonging to you" though being the registered keeper is not regarded in law as owning the vehicle.

[Pedant]That is incorrect. [/Pedant]. It's probably one of those myths grown out of insurance companies misquoting the law to make more profit? The real issue with "other car cover" is if the other car is not already insured then it would only be insured while you drive it, not park and leave it... as the traffic police kindly told me (except when you're in custody in the back of their traffic car, that is!) Pesky ANPR's wasted mine and the police's time and worse.

Yup, insurance is an odd thing, they seem to have get out clauses for everything. So the only way is the proper way! Luckily my no claims bonus is stacking up well, having never had to make a claim, so i hope insurance should come down over another year or so.

Ive just been having a good look around the forum today, its nice to read other peoples Activa stories, this site does appear to be more of a Xantia forum than a general forum 8)
