Why still no C5 Activa?

Unread post by Quackers »

Does anybody have a response from Citroén as to why they still have not released another ACTIVA model?

The new C5 with its big 17" wheels would grip like glue with an Activa system in.

I think we should pester Citroén france and england to death to get an Activa in their range again!

I love my Xantia Activa, but its 9 years old now, parts are getting more rare and more expensive :(

Noticed on the french web site you can configure your C5 with the 3.0 V6 Petrol engine, once again England gets less choice, its not available in th UK

I've e-mailed them @ [email protected] to try and get a response. I would be doen the dealer tommorrow if they released a C5 ACTIVA :D

Peugeot.
They don't like cars with superior suspension (look at how the new C5 only comes with springs on the basic models!).
It's all their fault.

I think I'm correct in saying that Hydractive 3+ achieves essentially the same thing using electronics to control each strut independently.

When i drove a C5 on a Citroen Fleet day round a race track i really grinded it on corners, it was definatly not like an Activa. Leaned a lot still. But then again everything leans once your use to an Activa.

Having driven Jim's fabulous Activa I can say that the Activa and the C5 are chalk and cheese.

I wonder if the C5's higher center of gravity might no offset a lot of the Activa advantages.

It surprises me that they don't fit hydraulic suspension to the C8 too. The Picasso could definitely do with it.

Ah but was it fitted with Hydractive 3+?

Hydractive 3+ is only fitted to the latest C5 Exclusive and higher powered VTR models.

It was in July 2007 on an Exclusive C5, with 15 miles on the clock, so i presume so. Are there any videos of this Hydroactive 3+ in action?

Good point well made, SWIMBO had a Picasso when I had a Berlingo Multispace, the Lingo had a far smoother ride.

Dad swapped his Xantia Sensation for one years ago.
It's like instead of suspension they fitted girders!
The rear seats seem to have been designed for 10 year olds too, as even with the head rest fully raised it still digs uncomfortably between my shoulder blades.

You'd have thought; MPV, likely to carry extra weight, lets give it hydraulic suspension.
Perhaps the roll would have been too great though on non-hydractive models?

There is a Polish lad at work with one, perhaps I should give him a ride in the C5 and really spoil his day.

Jim's Activa would make him suicidal I imagine.

I think we have had our 'Concord' moment, as far as the Activa suspension goes, i doubt we will ever see it in production again :(

Most of the new C5s you see on the road have coils and shockers (you can tell this as they ride higher than the hydractive ones), so i would have been very surprised to hear that they are going to do an Activa hydractive one.

Its a shame, but makes the Activa much more worth saving.

If they did do an Activa version it would be best to come with teh V6,2litre turbo and 2.0HDi 130bhp and 2.7V6 HDi as well as come in estate form as i think it would push more sales if it came as an optional extra on exclusive's if they wouldn't do it as a model in its own right.

Maybe if we all sent Citroen emails asking them why its not happening they would look into it as i guess with the developments in recent years the system could even be improved upon?

I think we would need the French Activa drivers in on this too, Citroén need to know people still want Activa. With more being sold in france i am suprised it was not continued.
