Just wondering - after sorting through some old folders I came across this, my very first xantia.
It got snapped up very cheaply by someone in Poole and he reported all was well a month or so on. Lost touch since but would be good to know it's still going.
Where are they now?

I've often wondered about this. In the 3 years (just over) since I passed my test, I've had 7 cars
After checking on DVLA site I think every one is still going

I've used that tool many times in the past, it can be great fun!
Theres also one for checking whether a car is insured, and another for looking at the MoT history for the last couple of years.
http://www.askmid.com/ - thats the Insurance one, I don't have a link to the MoT one.
On another note, I checked to see if my current Xantia was still registered, it appears it is still going strong

Hello Kev, interesting site about the car insurance register, especially the bit about the Data Protection Act.
Not found the MOT site yet, do you have a link or address?
The other interesting point about this register is that it is NOT your responsibility to ensure the data on it is correct, as it is not a legally constituted agency. I would be interested to see how the insurance companies got around the Data Protection Act to list the details. Cannot remember ever giving consent to my insurers for inclusion in this database and I will be scanning my policy to see what is written in the small print.
I do hate this creeping intrusion into our civil liberties.
Shame all these un-insured drivers have no sense of social responsibility.

They can cover their ass Data Protection-wise by making you tick that box to say that the reg you're checking belongs to your car (and not somebody else's).handyman wrote:I would be interested to see how the insurance companies got around the Data Protection Act to list the details. Yeah, silly and pointless I know but that's all they need to do...
And the link to the MOT website is http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/internet/jsp/ ... equest.jsp
