2.1TD induction kit

Has anyone tried ripping out the old airbox and fitting an air induction kit? Green filters make one to fit the 2.1TD
Does / would there be any benifits? Or problems would be?....
any other " easy engine mods " to increase power or torque?
Just had my new front spheres fitted and stopped bouncy, bouncy, so now would like to add some whoomp!

It's forced induction, and the boost pressure is controlled by a wastegate, so altering the air filter will make no difference what so ever to the power output. It MIGHT decrease the turbo lag by a few ms, and MIGHT mean you get full boost a bit earlier - i doubt you will notice the effect though. My understanding is that the 2.1TD is ECU controlled and can be re-chipped to up the performance, and this is likely to be the easiest way to go.

A cheap way to find out would be simply to disconnect the air trunking at a convenient point and take it for a run and see if there is any difference.
If you remove the air filter itself you will have to clean the filter container carefully before running the engine as there is ususlly a collection of grit etc below the filter and thus would be sucked into the engine. My brother went to look at the filter in his MX5 and found it full of hazelnuts - carefully placed there by a squirrel who had carefully opened each one and removed the kernel!

I have heard a 1.9 with an induction kit on it, It sounded like an old commer carrier two stroke breadvan, I dont know whether it went better but folks did turn and look!
