HDi Auxilary Belt

Unread post by Toby_HDi »

Is this the same as the 406? I have just phoned GSF for a part number (couldn't find it online) only to be told they don't do it for my Xantia

Or if anyone knows the GSF part number (and I was being told porkies) then please let me know.

Thanks

There are two different belts, depending wheter there is a Sanden A/C Compressor or Delphi. You have to remove the botom engine cover to see, what compressor you have. Even quering the Citroen database with your VIN does not help. The French simply do not track, which compressor the built in :-(

For Sanden: 6PK1738
For Delphi: 6PK1750

I know I have the Delphi. Does this mean if I find the 6PK1750 belt for another PSA model that it will fit?

Thanks

Remember only the Xantia has the pump to drive. Other cars will have PAS but the pulley may not be the same size.

Edit- Ignore that, I wasn't reading the thread properly

Yes, it doesn't even have to be a PSA model.
If you look on the Dayco website you can cross reference to other cars which use the same size belt.
The 6PK1750 also seems to fit various Renaults, VWs and Ford Fiestas.

Its often safer just to look what number is on the existing belt and buy another the same size. A couple of times I've bought the belt GSF told me the car should have only to find it was the wrong length when I tried to fit it!

Thanks nick. Excellent stuff.

Has thrown up some problems though.

Dayco and Citroen give conflicting information. Dayco give 1736 or 1740 yet Citroen only list either the 1750 (Delphi) or 1736 (Sanden) when I use service.citroen and use my VIN

As you said I think best bet is to try to see which belt is on tomorrow. Hopefully the print hasn't worn off.

Thanks again

The number is the length in mm, isn't it? You should be able to measure your old one. Don't forget to sketch the route it takes.
