Which engine oil Xantia 1.9

I'd normally do a search elsewhere for this, but I think you'll come up with the answer than I could find it... what is the engine oil I should be using in this Xantia, please?

Hang on, don't sweat it - I found something that says use 15w40.

When I had my 1.9 TurboD SX I used to use Miller's Mineral oil for diesel engines.

a semi sinthetic 15/40 universal petrol/diesel should be fine,

GSF do one but whatch they dont sell you there universal diesel only oil, as this is more dosh that there above

I always used ASDA's cheap as chips stuff and changed it monthly.
Not any more of course, and it isn't cheap as chips any more either.

No matter how often you change it, it's fairly important to use the right grade (15W/40), semi-sythetic, DIESEL oil.
'Universal' oils generally don't have sufficient detergency for diesel engines. Buy it by the 5L can from a motor factor - don't pay extra for well-advertised brands (the extra mostly goes on advertising not what's in the can).
More important though is to buy a respected make of filter - my tame factor stocks FRAM (PH 5566A for the 1.9D), but I'm sure other forum members can recommend other brands.
