Turbo gauge fitting

Unread post by jgra1 »

all, I brought a gauge for my TD 1905... not sure if i was being silly...

any idea where I get the pressure signal from? all i have is a long clear tube and a t-peice, in the kit....

the signal to the injection pump is vacumn not pressure?

You could T into the pip on the turbo going to the actuator?
It would show what the turbo is seeing but not what the inlet manifold, and finally the engine sees so the pressure drop could be a few psi from there to inlet valves.

I was thinking the same spot as you KP but access is a bit...

Luckily, it's on the hot side of the turbo and to overfuel, the pump LDA needs to see boost pressure so it would be OK John. Like KP's suggestion, it would not be strictly accurate as the pressure drop across the intercooler is not taken into consideration. Good enough though and easy!

The next problem is getting the pipe through the bulkhead and into the cabin

thanks both ;)

I fitted a throttle lock cruise unit t'other day. and there is enough space in the hole in the bulkhead for the pipe to go there :)

This is the hole the bonnet cable goes through..

downside is the grommet is impossible to fit back in :(

will try to fit a large grommet in place to protect the cables and pipes, but its nasty work, right up by clutch clip

well all connected up fine :)

I took illumination from the whiteish wire from the dashboard dimmer switch - this is lights-on-live and dimmed with all dash lights - ideal if you fit a gauge / stereo etc :)

turbo is putting 17 Psi out.. leave it alone and make fueling adjustments?

If you turn the fuelling up the boost will go up too...

I assume from reading this post, that you put your vac tube through the hole that the bonnet release cable goes through?
