ECU - Not wanting to talk

Unread post by Quackers »

Took my Activa to garage today for a service and have her control rods lubed up, and i also asked him to check the Activa an Hydroactive computer for errors, he laughed and said there will be thousands logged.

When i went to collect he said they did not want to talk and tried with 3 different types of computer and non would comunicate. Now he did notice the little thing you buy of Ebay attached to my activa, that sorts out that solunoide locking onto hard problem. Could that block the communication?

He's right when he says there could be several though thousands may be pushing it  have you/did he check the condition of the pins in the socket (is yours a 30 or EOBD 16 pin version) as I've come across this before on a 30 pin socket where a garage said the same when all that had happened was one of the pins had bent over, hence no communication, a quick bend back and communication was restored.

The diode kit won't in my experience affect the diagnostic reading.

No idea how many PINS it is. Just worried he cannot talk to it.

Its serviced now anyway, so i'm gonna do a 1000 mile round trip to the hague and back in a few weeks, so as long as i have no hydrolic leaks i'm gonna be happy. My worst nightmare, Activa having a p**s in france. Am i mad doing from the Midlands to the netherlands and back in an Activa... guzzle guzzle fuel.

I'd say you'll be alright on a longer, sensible speed motorway run; you
should be at optimum comfort cruise with 30's mpg and bear in mind its
dropped I'm price per litre today inbthe UK under the mental block of £1!

Are you going to write a blog for the journey - better still, record your
comments on the mobile etc and you could writeup a little ditty and sell
it to a car mag and cover some of your costs for the trip!! ;) They've
always got space to fill and a bit of positive PR for the Activa would
be nice!! :D touch wood it behaves of course...

Take some piccies for the readers rides!!

Sounds like a great trip. The Hague is a lovely place :D

Diagnostics. What machines did he try? Only the Lexia or ELIT will properly read the ECUs, especially the HA ECU.

The diode kit will indeed make no difference whatsoever to a diagnostic tester.

Have a great trip and looking forward to the blog!

That's odd.

Did he manage to "see" any of the ECUs? I ask as they all come out on different pins of the diagnostic connector. It has to be worth checking the integrity of the pins.

Also, there is a fused 12V supply to the diagnostic connector that is essential for powering the tester. I'll dig out the diagrams of both the 16 and 30 pin one. You''ll have the 16 pin one I guess.
