AX that Whines

Post by vanny »

I have a 1.5D AX Elation that has developed a curiour, and intermitent fault/strangeness. It has been to Cit and various others and no one has a clue what it is. At various rangom times and different volumes, there is a mechanical/electrical whine from the engine compartment on the left handside (over towards the glow plug relays i think). The whine isnt effected by out side temperature or speed, which makes me think its something electrical. I have been told by Cit (who i dont trust!) that it isnt the relay. Does any one have any ideas about this? Anyone had a similar problem?
Thnx
Vanny

Hi Vanny - Have a look at the electric pump on the power steering.

Although im thinking some sort of electric pump or relay is likely to be the cause, the AX doesnt have any power steering. Any other places i might look??

Sorry Vanny - I was thinking that your AX would be similar to our Saxo 1.5D.

Hello! I had a similar problem when i had an AXGT. It turned out to be the timing belt tensioner. Hope this helps.
