Missing gasket?

Does anybody own a Renault scenic reg 1998-2002 (R reg to 02 but not the new shape!)?
If so would they be good enough to tell me if there is anything between the manifold and the exhausts downpipe.
The reason I ask is mine has a gap and nothing but 3 garages have said there should be a gasket/bung or something between the 2 to seal the gap.
I rang Renault dealers and have a mix reaction 2 people in the parts department have said yes there should be and 2 have said no there is nothing it just bolts together even better they all work in the same dealers.
Anyone know?

I had this same problem a month ago there is no gasket fitted!!! I had this checked by renault as I found it hard to beleive that it should just go together with no sort of seal, initially they told me that the diagrams showed a gasket but when they tried to order this part for me it had no part number, which to them means it is not require to be fitted also is not available to be ordered. I put mine back together and all is well hope this is helpful.
