...and here's hoping we're all still here this time tomorrow worrying about
strut tops, England footballer's chances and a recession etc. May be worth
having a lie in until after BST 8.30am tomorrow - either that or put your
head between your knees and cross your fingers!
Wondering whether the scientists said there was absolutely nothing to
worry about 14 billion years ago before the last 'big bang'.

Buried underground somewhere in Switzerland there's some complex
particle accelerator where they're going to fire an element smaller than an atom up its own backside in a massive metal donut with some suggestions that it'll create a black hole where the earth will itself disappear up its own backside and it'll be another "big bang" which they say is what created the entire universe in the first place.
I'm just not sure these guys playing about are too worried about others' worst case scenarios. Some tried to stop the experiment in the European Court but had the ruling quashed.
How can they possibly know what exactly will happen; science is theory until proven one way or another; bit late if they're found wrong!?

Ahh yer, heard about that a few months back, serious stuff!
Quite interesting though.
And your quite right, I don't think they have a clue what is going to happen.
It's being fired up tonight then is it?
Thought it was just a beam this month and then they were going to get onto the proton collisons next month. That's the big stuff

Thankfully they have a better idea than most in the media
Collisions of greater energies take place all the time.

Just in case it all goes horribly wrong I've backed up the forum databases this morning
If you see any dolphins telling you "So long and thanks for all the fish!" * you know things are really serious and the world is about to end
* Douglas Adams, Hitchikers Guide To The Galaxy. What the dolphins are reputed to have said as they left the Earth just ahead of its destruction by a Vogon constructor fleet to make way for a hyperspace bypass.
