Xantia estate roof bars
What`s the do with the roofbar fittings? There is a spring that prises out . I take it the proper roofbar snaps in or summat? Anyone got a pic of it that I might make a copy. I need to get a bar on the roof to hold fishing rods. They are like hens teeth to pick up.

Didn't realise fishing rods were that hard to buy, or do you mean the rods are
soooo heavy to lift!!
Have you considered using a drain pipe running the length of the interior
(perhaps even using ski hatch in the arm rest) or is the length of the fishing
rods toooo long?
The aluminium tracks on the estate roof do indeed have flaps at each end
that simply close the ends of the main slot the foot of each bar sits in - it's
into this slot a metal foot with a few mm of undercut is held into and gripped
by bolts that brace the foot. They're quite a substantial affair and are shaped
for a good safe grip and are mounted on a rubber foot to prevent scratching
the paintwork. Making your own may be a bit challenging for the undercut for
the foot in the main bar and be just as costly - ebay is the best answer!
Mind, if you're handy making things, I've got pictures of the main roofbar
foot somewhere, just can't find them - be as quick to take some new ones!

each end of the track on the roof there is a flap, lift the ends of the flaps which are pointting towards each other on each track, under erach foot of the corect roof bars for a XANTIA estate there is a plate which is tightend up and down with two allan bolts comming down through the top of each end of each roof bar, slacken off all the 8 allan bolts place the apropriate bar across the roof fom one track to the other, guide the plates into the slot were the flaps came out of, slide the bar up onto the narrow part of the track to the poinrt you wish it to be, now lock it into place with the alla bolts, repeat with the other bar,
these bars are of diferant lengths for the front of the roof to the rear one

Thanks guys. They are 15 ft fly rods. was going to make a bracket on bonnet lip and angle them up to fasten onto a bar at right angles to roof rail. I will keep looking for a pair of bars.......got enough projects ATM

The fittings you need are called T-track, they are available from the likes of www.roofbox.co.uk or you might find the original Citroen parts on ebay.lexi wrote:What`s the do with the roofbar fittings? For your purposes though you could knock something up using a length of drainpipe, and something to lock it into one of the tracks.
