Very unusual sunroof

I was driving along the other day and it sounded like there was a hissing from the sunroof, as though it wasn't closed properly.

With the cardboard part in the way i couldn't see what was happening.

So I pressed the button to make it close more and hence stop the noise, but... on pressing the button there was an almighty loud bang and the cardboard was shaking lots..

I pulled back the cardboard bit only to find nothing.... NO SUNROOF.

The whole lot had instantly dissapeared, glass, metal surround, half of the brackets.



Having tried to find a new one in scrap heaps and spares dealers I'm now nowhere nearer to replacing my temporary perspex/duck tape sunroof.

Does anyone know where I can get another sunroof and how to fit it?

Oo, It's an N reg ZX.

So where's the glass gone?

Hopefully not through the windscreen of the person behind you? :shock:

The glass flew off, it smashed to smitherines as it hit the floor behind me, fortunately there was no-one following me at the time.

But still I am without a sunroof. :-(

I don't suppose your anywhere near Newcastle upon Tyne are you? as there is a scrappy near me that always has the odd ZX in, and as most ZX's had sunroofs fitted you would probably get fixed up.

Have tried replying to your pm several times but it just stays in the outbox and doesn't send. Do you still have the sunroof?

oh my goodness, that sounds shocking!

there is a moral to this story, check sunroof fittings... sounds like a one off of course, but still you gotta ask "what if?" don't you.
