Hi Richard.

Mind, don't worry if you're busy Richard, but I get the feeling that you like
the challenge!!

I have another big ask for your undoubted skills at navigating and more
importantly understanding the vagaries of http://service.citroen.com

I have managed to determine from a pdf file that I'd be interested in the
alternator mounting tensioner p[ulley and spring for an Xm with the part
numbers 5751 29, 5751 44 or may be 5751 81. An idea of price and if the
system shows availability!

The thing I'd love to nail down though is whether these items are the same
on the Xantia XUD TD with AirCon as a late s1 I have seems to have the
same items but I've not dismantled the Xm yet to match/check anything?

Anyone else is welcome to pitch in as well so there's fun to had by one and
all - I'm still not totally convinced this is the justification for running a PC
instead of my Mac in the same way a Citroen will do me fine instead of a
Ford or Beemer!!

I'll have a look this pm. The number you quoted doesn't look like a Cit part number - they usually begin 96 in the old parlance, new ones are 4 numbers followed by 2 letters.

have you tried GOOGLING each of those numbers, i just tried the first one and one of the resulst said it fits an XM 3.0, these are citroen part numbers,

i have a load of various brand new O/E parts i purchased in the past, and there are parts with 4 nubers followed by either two nubers or two letters

Can you run a Microsoft Virtual Machine (MVM) on your Mac that would allow you to run a virtual copy of Windows 98 by any chance?

If you can, let me know... I have something that may be of interest but it needs an MVM...

basically, these items are the spring damper and pulley which sit on the
casting that is bolted on the front of the XUD TD engine when air con is
fitted. The whole housing mounts the hydraulic pump, alternator and AC
pump onto the offside front of the engine on both a 1.9 and 2,1 XUD.

The first number I've found from a pdf is the pulley that's fastened by a bolt
through its centre; the other pulley has a foot that has a pivot bolt through
that, and the other part number is for the braced spring that has an eye for
fastenings at each end. It seems to be all categorised as alternator
mounting rather than auxilliary belt tensioners.

It'd be very interesting to know if there are m(any) similarities between
these parts on both TD engines though I guess citroen may use different
numbers for the very same part! Does anyone know what Citroen got up
to here? Malcolm? Availability of Xantis parts is better than Xm parts but
its the Xm I need to get sorted...

Ah, looking more closely, they are Citroen part numbers I think they only use one part number - even for older cars where a newer part fits, they use the new part number. I think you will find the part number is common to Pugs as well where appropriate!

5751 29 is the eccentric roller / tensioner. 5751 30 is the spring loaded roller, and 575181 is the tension spring. I couldn't find a 5751 44

The good news is that, yes, all these parts are used on A/C TD Xantias which have this type of belt tension arrangement
