The ZX is dead...

Long live the ......

The MOT man has condemned our ZX unfortunately - needs a whole heap of work, including a tricky looking weld repair on the reinforced section under the driver's floor - I've not got the time to do it, and the garage bill would be eye watering.

So we are on the lookout for something else. Went and saw a few at the weekend - SWMBO has taken a shine to a Berlingo Multispace - she likes the upright driving position, and the high seats / sliding doors look a real boon for the impending baby arrival. So all I've got to do now is find a diesel one

Never a dull moment is there?

Well, it's long live the Xsara Picasso

Since we have baby on the way, and my wife suffers from bad back we thought might as well go something that's friendly for getting a baby in / out the back. We were looking at Berlingo Multispaces first off - the sliding doors are a real boon, and my wife liked the upright driving position. However, they all seemed to be suffering heavy clutches, there were only 75 HDis for sale in the UK, most came without A/C, and they were pretty expensive. We did think about the new one, but can't commit to £4k / year for the next 3 years at the moment. After initially dismissing it, we went for a drive in a Picasso and it met with approval so we decided on one - there are loads more about, most have A/C, and the clutch is hydrulaic and nice and light. So last night I bought a 2003 SX HDi. More when it arrives at the weekend I expect

Why not find an LPG one as they will be much cheaper to run

No of Picassos on Autotrader: 3429
No with LPG: 3

Nearest one is 100 miles away and £1500 more than I paid for a similar car. I'll stick with the diesel one (that I prefer the driving characteristics of, and hasn't lost 1/2 its boot to a bomb waiting to happen

)

Yeah, pity about the ZX - if I'd done some work on it as we went along I might have got it through. Still SWMBO is happy now!

your ZX wouldnt happen to be a 3 door hatch by any chance, as one of my customers had her N/S quarter openning window smashed the other day , and requiers a S/H replacement
