Berlingo - drips from internal light???

Hi,
Has any-one suffered from water dripping from the front center internal light, the one just above the rear view mirror. I have not had time to investigate yet but it is directly below the roof arial fitting so that will be my first port of call.

But any advice is welcome if you have already been there and done it.

I agree, I haven't seen it but I know there is a gasket there. Of course, with time, rubber gets hard and is easily cracked.

OK, but you are only telling me what I already know, what I want to hear is, 'Yes I had this problem and I cured it by...................'

Or at least if you say remove the arial then give me a clue how to do it if you have already done it yourself.

Expecting rain tonight so have had to place a container underneath to catch the drips............

If you pry the roof light and/or console out you'll see the nut holding the antenna in place.

Loosen nut, lift out antenna, wang in a bit of sealant or cut-up bike inner tube.

Refitting is reversal of removal, etc.

Thanks for that Ross, have you had water leaking in via the arial mounting? If so have you any hints on how to 'pry out' the roof light, or remove the console.

I just used a flat head jewellers screwdriver in the gap between the light and the surrounding plastic. The light should lever out quite easily.

Thanks for all the tips on stopping a leak at the arial/roof join.

The question is - has any-one ever had a leak entering here and did it run down the internal light and drip into the two cup holders in front of the gear stick. Or was the water entering from some-where else???

Yes I could rip it apart to see if its leaking but why do that when the answer may lay in this forum.

No need for the sarcasm.

Check the seal on the antenna first of all as it's an easy thing to do.

Does the water in the cup holders taste like water, or is it bitter/funny smelling?

im sorry if you took my coment the wrong way, but that is a fraze i use all the time with my lot indoors, and i cant see any other way to tell you about your leak

Many thanks superloopy1, your advice was spot on and the job is now done. Once I could see the 'interior' of the roof where the arial fixing came through it was obvious that this is where the water was entering.

Very sorry Ross but I miss understood your term 'rooflight', I thought you meant the glass panels in the roof, or the job would have been done sooner. If the water had tasted 'bitter' what would that have signified?
