Clean Alloy Wheels Easily & Cheaply...

Post by freakishboon »

Alloy wheel cleaning/tar removal

If you suffer from Tar spots
on your alloy wheels/hard to
shift brake dust
the cheapest and easiest
way to remove them is to buy
a pot of "Spotless" from Homebase.
Its a cleaning paste and its superb
and does not harm anything (can be
used on Chrome etc too!)
the best bit is that a tub is only £2.49
and will last years - unless the wife
gets hold of it and uses it to clean
the kitchen - it will then soon go!

I use white spirit (with gloves).
Cheap and as effective.

Here here with the white spirit idea.
I always wax afterwards (the car, not my legs) to remove white residue.
Also, use Armor-all tyre foam, it's expensive at a fiver a can, but is the best gear on the market by a mile.

I have always used just simple cheap washing up liquid and a small brush.

My local pound shop sells tyre cleaning foam which seems to work just as well as the expensive versions - and not just on tyres and other car bits.

I bought "wonder wheels" a normal size bottle and has lasted two years just on a set of 4 alloys so works out very cheap really.
